CAD Designs

These are academic an extracurricular projects I have done over the past few years. All of the designs were modeled in Solidworks, then 3D printed using PLA filament.

Smart Microscope

Smart Microscope

Smart Microscope is a project I have been working on in the Dali Lab since February 2023. At it's core, the project is an AI-powered microscope which will revolutionize digital pathology. I modeled and 3D printed each component using Solidworks and iPrusa printers. I then assembled the components using heat set inserts and various screw sizes. Since the scope resembles that of a traditional microscope, experienced doctors can easily adapt to the device.

ENGS 85.11 Project:
Walking Dinosaur

Walking Dinosaur

For my class Computer Aided Design and Kinematics, we utilized Solidworks Simulation to design a four-bar linkage system to control the leg movements of a walking dinosaur. I simulated the movement in Solidworks in order to create the best linkage pieces, then laser cutted them in wood. I assembled the pieces using screws, and connected it to a remote-controlled motor so it could move.

Collapsible Crutches

ENGS 21 Project:
Collapsible Crutches

For my class Introduction to Engineering, my team and I decided to tackle the the concept of collapsible crutches, as current remedies for foot and ankle injuries are bulky and difficult to store or transport. We used a telescoping method to cut the size of the crutch in half--I designed the snap button mechanism, taking inspiration from painter's poles found at Home Depot, and the arm rest.

Prosthetic Hand

I designed this simple prosthetic hand design for children who lack hands above the wrist. I used the surfaces and ratio features in Solidworks so that the design was easily adjustable and could be printed in different sizes, all while keeping the snapping mechanism intact. Using flexible string, when the wrist joint was flicked, the fingers closed in to make a fist.
